14th Station: Jesus is Laid in the Tomb

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. (Genuflect)
Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

There was a garden in the place where Jesus had been put to death, and in it there was a new tomb where no one had ever been buried. Since it was the day before the Sabbath and because the tomb was close by, they placed Jesus’ body there. (John 19:41-42)

Prayer:
We too, O God, will descend into the grave whenever it shall please you, as it shall please you, and wherever it shall please you. Let your just decrees be fulfilled; let our sinful bodies return to their parent dust, but do you, in your great mercy, receive our immortal souls, and when our bodies have risen again, place them likewise in your kingdom that we may love and bless you for ever and ever. Amen.

Our Father.., Hail Mary.., Glory Be..

Have mercy on us, O Lord.
Have mercy on us.

Holy Mother, pierce me through!
In my heart, each wound renew,
Of my Savior crucified.

Jesus, Lord, your gift accepted,
In three days you resurrected,
You did first what we shall do.
